"Buio Mondo moves between the ominous world of John Carpenter and the dark fantasy of Goblin. Just like the cinema of the great Dario Argento, it immerses us in a universe where dreams become a terrible reality, a warning from those demons who dwell behind the scenes of existence."

"A pugni nudi" (With bare fists) - presented with a more than explicit subtitle "For a sad experience in a juvenile detention center" - is a 1974 film directed by Marcello Zeani; it can be associated to the Italian police genre, but it stands on its own due to its being set in the world of boxing.
It's a drama movie too, with a non-optimistic nor hopeful ending at all, accompanied by the music of Franco Bixio, with a distinctive jazz-rock imprint, a strong presence of symphonic arrangements and a singular more 'disengaged' episode ("Split second", on the B side of the LP).
A small gem, equally able to describe dramatic and tensive moments, now rediscovered and reissued for the first time on vinyl by AMS Records!
Pino Donaggio is great in creating romantically laced cues that are played alongside dramatic sounding compositions.
This score was written in 1974, before the composer had really established his 'sound', but nevertheless the music has great character and contains some interesting orchestrations and arrangements.
Strangely, many collectors of Italian film music often forget or side step the Donaggio's work, which combines traditional Italian sounding motifs and musical passages with his own compositions and arrangements, creating a rewarding and at times amusing listen.
This soundtrack has never been reprinted on vinyl since 1974 until today and this edition, with a new artwork, it's the first LP reissue ever!
Special edition on solid red vinyl exclusively made for the Record Store Day 2019!

During a 1972 full of progressive rock masterpieces, the Neapolitan group Osanna released a follow-up to their debut LP "L'uomo"; a very peculiar record, the result of a collaboration between the band and the Maestro and composer Luis Bacalov (who already worked with New Trolls on their "Concerto Grosso" the previous year), a work commissioned for Fernando Di Leo's movie "Milano Calibro 9".
It's a record full of shades and atmospheres, suspended among Osanna's tension and almost primordial and hard rock aggressivity and the romanicism and solemnity of Bacalov's symphonic arrangements.
Faithful reproduction of the original 1972 edition, on red vinyl.Dark Red LP packaged in a gatefold jacket in a resealable clear plastic sleeve with hype sticker affixed to the front.
“Buio Omega”, two short and simple words that, in the mind of Goblin’s fans as well as in the horror/splatter movies fanatics’ one, recall sounds and images of a legendary film. Directed in 1979 by Joe D’Amato, it still impresses with the rawness and morbidity of its scenes, the trademark of a director who, much more than others, befits the term ‘extreme’.
The soundtrack of the film, whose main ingredients are keyboards and synthesizers, swings among echoes of Alan Parsons Project, funk / fusion and melancholic atmospheres.
“Buio Omega” is pressed on vinyl today for the first time ever!
The LP is housed in a beautiful gatefold cover showing inside recording sessions photos and promotional flyers/postcards.
Just reading the artist and the title of this work would be more than enough to present this release: the most renowned Italian musician, composer and conductor, followed by one of the most famous Italian films ever: that's just what they are, after all, Ennio Morricone and "Cinema Paradiso", a film that in 1990 earned director Giuseppe Tornatore an Oscar for Best Foreign Film.
Love, nostalgia, melancholy, these are the three main ingredients of "Cinema Paradiso", the same that characterize Morricone's soundtrack.
A work of pure classical music: orchestral, symphonic, compelling and moving, it's the perfect comment to the scenes expertly directed by Tornatore.
