It's been five years since Washington D.C based fuzz rockers, Borracho, released their last studio record, Atacama - a record that was hailed as "one of 2016's finest in heavy rock and roll" by unofficial voice of the underground, The Obelisk.

Borracho further refine their sound with Pound of Flesh. Everything you loved from the bands Spitting the Sky/Oculus days, through to their more recent success with 2016's Atacama, is still very much present - but there is a certain sense of confidence and/or purpose to the sound and production that grabs the listener by the neck and says "Listen up". Swedish psychedelic collective Me & My Kites have evolved considerably since the 2012 recording of their excellent debut album "Like a Dream Back Then".
Their latest "Is It Real or is it Made" strips back the psychedelia of that debut in favor of a more progressive, indefinable sound, with a distinctive Canterbury flavor.
Vocalist Lisa Isaksson seems to be a more dominant voice on this release, and her pure, folk-inflected vocals, combined with Karin Engqvist's lyrical piano work, often reminds this listener of a more progressive minded version of the sort of things that the Unthanks have been unleashing over the last few years.

Easterfaust by The Cosmic Dead: a magic carpet ride that began in the hazy days of August 2013 when the cosmics spent five days in a remote isolated garage in the Scottish Highlands with only Focaccia king Luigi Pasquini for company.
Easterfaust was the first momentous improvisation from this session to be released and captures the band in a moment of sheer, vibrant exuberance feeling their way through 42 minutes of visceral augmented repetition which metamorphs from the distant echo of space rock to an all-encompassing climactic synchronicity of sound.
Originally released in 2014, this long sold-out and sought after album is now repressed by Sound Effect Records and will be available in 3 limited vinyl editions and CD.

If you had to name one German band among the first of the second wave of thrash in the wake of the 1980s pioneers, it would be Repent.
